Liz Haywood-Sullivan: "On one of my infrequent pandemic visits to my amazing mother in upstate New York I found myself flying (in my car) along the NY State Thruway - which I have literally traveled hundreds of times. The landscape of upstate New York is embedded in my soul with rolling hills carved out by glaciers, now tended by farmers, and bordered by hedgerows of windblocking trees. This cloud formation stopped me in my tracks. It begged to be painted, so I stopped and took some photos and brought the image home with me. Paintings like this one sustained me during the scary times in the world outside my studio."
