Volney Allan Richardson (b. 1880)
Born in Attica, New York, Volney Richardson studied at the Art Students League in New York, the School of Fine Art, Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, under William Merritt Chase, and privately with Edward Dufner, Frank Vincent Du Mond and Charles W. Hawthorne. He received prizes from the Albright Art Gallery, Buffalo, in 1927 and 1931, and from the Buffalo Society of Artists in 1935. Richardson settled in Houston, Texas, but made several painting trips to Nantucket and exhibited his brightly colored impressionist paintings at the Easy Street Gallery in 1929.
