Exhibition: Heading to the Harbor

As summer unfolds, harbors open their doors by connecting land to sea and welcoming many travelers eager to set sail for new destinations. They radiate the excitement of leaving for a long-awaited journey, as well as the comfort of finally returning home. Among these travelers are many artists, who spend summers at seaside towns illustrating their coastlines, harbors, and permanent residents.  A group of American Impressionists, including John F. Folinsbee, James Jeffrey Grant, and Gordon Grant, vacationed to New England harbors such as Rockport and Gloucester, and focused on using loose and multidirectional brushstrokes to depict the working harbors and fishermen. Vose Galleries is pleased to present Heading to the Harbor, an exhibition featuring a selection of works that capture the dynamic atmosphere of harbors and seashores during the vibrant summer months. The exhibition will be viewable online and in the gallery July 30th through September 10th.
